About

Taylor Arthur is a Los Angeles based photojournalist who works to cover the LA area and beyond. Born in South Lake Tahoe, CA her passion for photography began with a Polaroid camera that was gifted to her by her grandmother.

From an early age Taylor has been an observer of the world around her and photography became a way to document what she saw. Her passion for documentary photography and photojournalism is attributed to the works of Lynsey Addario, Kirk McKoy, Nick Ut among many other acclaimed photographers.

Taylor has earned an AA in Journalism from Los Angeles Pierce College and has worked as Photo Editor and reporter for The Roundup News for four semesters. She also held the position of Editor-in-Chief of The Bull Magazine, which published the “Women’s Issue” for the Fall 2016/Winter 2018 semester. Taylor is currently continuing her education in photojournalism at California State University, Fullerton.

Additionally, Taylor’s professional experience includes working as a Photo Editor for the Los Angeles Times. Her job duties included editing photos for the Envelope and Calendar sections as well as editor/card-runner for red carpet events (Oct. 2017- Present).

In 2013, Taylor was nominated for the American Visions award by the Scholastic Art & Writing organization. Her piece, Gentlemen’s Room, was displayed at the Nevada Museum of Art for the duration of the Scholastic exhibition featuring ‘Gold Key’ recipients. For the following two years, she was awarded numerous Gold Keys including her portfolio The Link of Existence, (2015) which was featured in a group exhibition at the Holland Project in Reno, NV.

Taylor was also awarded the 2017 Student Photojournalist of the Year by the Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles (PPAGLA) for her portfolio completed throughout the duration of 2017.
